Minister Bobbie Jean Baker Memorial Fund (BJB)

In Loving Memory of
Minister Bobbie Jean Baker (1964-2014)

The statistics are clear. Anti-Transgender violence disproportionately impacts
young, Transgender, women of color.

Many of the same financial barriers that put Transgender women of color at physical risk also serve as barriers to their developing leadership roles in volunteer and professional settings. As a result, they are too often entirely absent from the very rooms where their lives are being discussed.

In memory of Minister Bobbie Jean Baker's robust Christian leadership, the Minister Bobbie Jean Baker Memorial Fund supports the leadership of Transgender women of color. Some priority will be given to Black Transgender women in Christian ministry, especially in the United Church of Christ and the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries where she served so faithfully. However, the awards are not restricted to those who identify as Black or practice Christianity.

Turn your concern about Transgender tragedy
into support for the living.
