For Transgender Awareness Week, Transfaith will be hosting an “All Questions Welcome” event in collaboration with the Drew University Diversity & Inclusion Committee with special guest contributors from OtherWise Christian 2: Stories of Resistance.

The Reverend Debra Hopkins is a nondenominational minister and founding executive director of There's Still Hope, a nonprofit organization serving transgender adults who are experiencing homelessness in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. Rev. Debra is the proud parent of three adult children, eight beautiful grandchildren, and the author of three books. You can read more about her life in her memoir, titled Not Until You Have Walked in My Shoes A Journey of Discovery & the Spirit of the Human Heart (2020).

Z Shane Zaldivar is a Social Justice Warrior with 20+ years of experience advocating for marginalized communities. He uses his identity as a Veteran, Indigenous, Queer, Trans Man of Color to support all people. His calling has been to support those experiencing homelessness, and his specialties are suicide prevention and crisis management. When Z isn't advocating for the needs of others, you can find him on the Duck River in Tennessee connecting with Spirit/Ancestor or co-creating memories with his partner, Jabari.

delfin bautista is an activist theologian and social worker who explores intersectional approaches to deconstructing oppression and lifting up dynamics of liberation. delfin holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Divinity. Their background includes chaplaincy, campus ministry, case management, trauma therapy, faith-based activism, teaching, and diversity work in higher education.
